A strange scene played out on Tuesday afternoon in a West Ashley neighborhood that left one SUV overturned, one man shot dead and no suspects.

Joshua D. Wilder, 27, was found shot inside of an overturned vehicle at about 3:45 p.m. on 5th Avenue in the Maryville neighborhood. Neighbors report hearing 10 to 16 shots fired then spotting the SUV fly through a stop sign before flipping.

Police rushed Wilder to the hospital, but he died later that night of gunshot wounds.

There are still no suspects, but The Post and Courier reports that Wilder had been charged in a North Charleston murder in 2008. However, the charges were later dropped. As the case continues to unfurl, we'll be sure to keep you in the loop.
