The weekend round-up: Big waves, sports, reggae, more

The weekend is upon us, and there are a bunch of events coming up that'll be sure to strike your fancy.

To round out your Friday evening, you've got plenty of options. If you've got the skills, there are going to be some bigger waves at the beaches thanks to Hurricane Bill. Break out the surf board and get to shredding. If surfing isn't your thing, there is going to be a super cool, super eclectic art show called 'Trade Pendemic' at the Music Farm this evening. Not enough art for you for one night? Head down to the Market and check out the art show under building 'B.' If you're into the fashion scene, Biton will be having a fashion show with a cause, all proceeds from the show are benefitting Multiple Sclerosis. Finally, if you're trying to catch some music this evening, head out the The Pour House and catch Boombox

Saturday has a lot going on including two sporting events that are worth hitting up if you can take the heat. The Citadel football squad will be having their first scrimmage and autograph session. The Windjammer is the host of the Beach Tennis USA Charleston Challenge. O'Malleys Bar and Grille is kicking off their '7 Store, 7 Days' campaign on King Street, proceeds of what you buy go toward Lowcountry Aids Services. On the music front, there is a lot going on Saturday night. James Island County Park is hosting their last reggae summer concert, Ras Dave of Dub Island Soundsystem will be rocking Juanita Greenbergs, and Boombox will be playing the Pour House for the second night in a row. If you're a fan of the movie Fight Club, head out to Cinebarre for a free showing on their inflatable big screen

Sunday will still be a great day to hit the beach for some killer waves. Once you're done surfing, head over to The Porch on Center Street and catch Ras Dave's roots reggae show from 7 to 11 p.m.

If our picks bore you, you don't have to take our suggestions, as The Charleston City Paper has their own. Granted there's a lot of overlap but they have a few different suggestions.

Have fun out there this weekend.
