Here's our picks for the best events happening this weekend

Whether your week flew or crawled by like a snail, the weekend is here and it's time to let loose and have some fun.

RiverDogs baseball heats back up tonight when the Dogs welcome the Savannah Sand Gnats for the first game of a five-game homestand. Grab some cheap mystery beers, throw back some homewrecker hot dogs and start the weekend off right. After dishing out verbal abuse to the visiting team, consider heading out to The Tin Roof and catch local band Dante's Camaro perform their final show ever. Be prepared to have insults hurled your way all night long from this hard-rocking cover band.

Need to do some shopping? Take advantage of the weekend-long tax-free holiday. If an item could in any way be conceived to be used by a student, kiss both state and local tax goodbye.

Speaking of shopping, if you're feeling extra desperate these days, why not buy yourself a date at the Third Annual Bachelor Bid Bash. Don't fret, dudes, bachelorettes will be up for bid as well.

If you've been weighing the pros and cons of adopting a cat, add this to your pros list: the Frances R. Willis SPCA is hosting the "CATastic" weekend where all cats and kittens will be half the regular adoption price.

And don't forget the ocean waves should be pretty nice this weekend.

Per usual, theĀ Charleston City Paper has a weekend round-up of their own with lots of links to events happening this weekend too. Click on over and take a look.

And, to stay current with Charleston events, be sure to keep up with our daily Events Calendar.
