So this is how the cookie is crumbling this weekend people - we've got a transexual rock musical, the last Battery game of the season, a special evening of Brazilian music and a party on the Folly Pier.

I'm giving the biggest props to this weekend's performances of Hedwig and the Angry Inch from the brand spanking new What If? Productions production company. Opening on Friday night at The American Theatre, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a rock musical that rivals the greatness of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Another big draw this Friday night is the Moonlight Mixer at the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. Dance the night away or just enjoy the warm ocean breeze with good company and good music. The party's on from 7 to 11 p.m.

American Idol fans will be excited to hear that Josiah Leming will be performing at Eye Level Art on Friday night to promote his upcoming album, Come On Kid. Music starts at 8 p.m. Music lovers are in for another treat on Saturday night. Charleston musicians Leah Suárez and Duda Lucena are headlining an evening of Brazilian music. Bossa Bossa will feature bossa nova to samba, so get ready to shake those hips.

For the sports fans out there, this Saturday, the Charleston Battery will host the Charlotte Eagles in the final game of their regular season. This game is big time - if the Battery wins, they'll have clinched USL-2 regular season title.

There's plenty more events worth checking out this weekend, take a look at them on our Events Calendar. You can also pop over to the Charleston City Paper's weekend round-up and see what else they've got posted.
