Take in the best food, art and shopping during this weekend's big events

It's another big event-filled weekend in Charleston. October, you're the best.

If you're into food, and lots of it, this Friday marks the beginning of the three-day food fest, Taste of Charleston. The celebration of Lowcountry cuisine will feature some of Charlestonā€™s finest, nationally-renowned chefs, attempt to break a Guinness Book of World Records, host an Iron Chef competition, and end with a huge food tasting party at Boone Hall Plantation.

For you bibliophiles out there, the Galliard Auditorium is the place to be this weekend. The Friends of the Charleston Count Public Library and hosting a huge book, CD and DVD sale. And when I say huge, I mean huge. This sale is boasting 60,000+ items.

Saturday night marks the return of Charleston's biggest and baddest arts festival, Kulture Klash. This is the sixth installment of the event which features art, music, comedy, roller derby girls, a silent disco, dancing and much, much more. This party has been known to last all night long, so come ready to rage.

In an effort to rekindle love and support for symphonic music, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra is holding a 75th Anniversary Concert on Friday night. Pieces slated to be performed at Festive Overture by Dimitry Shostakovich, Capriccio Espagnol by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov and Symphony No. 9 in D Minor "The Choral" by Ludwig van Beethoven.

If you've felt cooped up all week and want to really stretch your legs, you should hit up the 7th annual Yoga Marathon in Marion Square on Saturday. Register today to join the group who will be completing 108 Sun Salutations. Proceeds benefit Louie's Kids.

Finally, on Sunday, King Street will be closed down to all vehicular traffic in order to cater to the walking and biking crowd. From Calhoun to Broad Street, restaurants will set up outdoor tables and shops display their wares outdoors, so come stroll downtown Charleston's shopping district in a very unique way.
