Charleston Parks Conservancy's July class schedule

The Charleston Parks Conservancy is hosting a slew events for both adults and children. Below is a look at what's to come, so sign up for something and kick boredom in the butt.

Cast Netting for Kids:

 

  • 9-9:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 24 
  • Daniel Island Riverfront Park, 101 River Landing Drive on Daniel Island 
  • Fee: $15

Come cast for some fun with the Charleston Parks Conservancy. Learn to cast on dry land with small cast nets and then meet some animals you can catch near Daniel Island. Learn how to choose and maintain the right net for you. Ages 6 and up. All children under 18 must have a paid and registered chaperone. To register: call 843-724-5003.

Botanical Illustration for Adults:

  • 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26 
  • Hazel Parker Playground classroom, 70 East Bay St. in Charleston 
  • Fee: $25

Join the Charleston Parks Conservancy to learn how to beautifully record plants either by pressing them or through illustrating them. Simple preservation techniques will be covered as well as some approachable drawing exercises. Study the work of Ernst Haeckel and other botanical illustrators and their compositions, media and themes. To register: call 843-724-5003.

Patterns in Nature for Kids:

  • 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28 
  • Hazel Parker Playground classroom, 70 East Bay St. in Charleston 
  • Fee: $15

Join the Charleston Parks Conservancy for an art class for children ages 4-8. Exploring patterns and textures in nature, each child will create artwork from rubbings of leaves, rocks and trees. To register: call 843-724-5003.

Learn to Crab:
