Get up close and personal with the LCHR at the 'Pink and Black Scrimmage' and portrait exhibition

Before the Lowcountry Highrollers kick off their first season competing against nationally-ranked teams, they plan to give their fans a little face time.

Your favorite skaters will split up and duke it out at a Pink and Black Scrimmage on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at their practice space, Hot Wheels Skate Center.

The event, a season-opener fundraiser, will be limited to 200 lucky spectators who will line the rink, just inches from where the derby girls hit the track – and one another. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $7 for children ages 11 to 15 (kids 10 and under are free). Buy tickets from any roller girl or at the door.

If you don’t catch the team there, see the skaters in another light on Friday, Feb. 10 at Badjon Photography’s art show celebrating the sport: “Derby Love.” Come out to Jericho Advisors from 5-9:30 p.m. Check out Badjon’s action and portrait shots, get your picture taken in his “get beat up by a derby girl” photo booth and try some samples from locally-crafted Sweeteeth Chocolate.

Most of all, get excited for the official start of our biggest season yet which kicks off on February 18th versus the Charlotte Roller Girls.
