If you live downtown and you've got a hankering for some Sci-Fi, well then it's time to rejoice.

Read more stories on this subject in our Terrace topic page.The Terrace Hippodrome Widescreen Cinema will have their grand opening on Thursday, May 7, and show J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek film "Kalamity."

The first show will be at 7 p.m. and Star Trek will continue to play for next 30 hours, assuring that Charleston's appetite for the film will be more than saturated.

Tickets will go on sale at the box office and by phone on Friday, May 1. The new phone number will be announced following the Charleston International FIlm Festival.

The Hippodrome is boasting Charleston's biggest movie screen, using the former Imax theater's space at 360 Concord Street (next to the Aquarium.)  If you want to know more about the new theater, check out our prior story.
