Update November 24: The new theater is open today.

You can get directions and showtimes on its website, and The Post and Courier has a written preview of the revamped theater.

First reporting: The long-closed AMC Northwoods 8 on the perimeter of the Northwoods Mall in North Charleston has been gutted and will soon be back at it and better than ever.

The Northwoods Stadium Cinemas will be opening soon with eight screens, improved seating, and plans to add more in the near future.

The Post and Courier has the rundown on the enhancements and some details on why it's taken so long; read that story over here.

The paper is saying the theater is set to open Friday, October 29, along with some fanfare.

The theater is run by Southeast Cinema Entertainment, the same group that opened the The Citadel Mall IMAX Stadium 16 at the Citadel Mall this time last year.
