The 3rd annual Peace One Day Festival is almost here, kickoff parties commence (update with photos)

First reporting:

On Wednesday September 1st from 7 to 10 p.m., Mellow Mushroom downtown will host the Charleston Peace One Day’s PeaceMob Kickoff Party to show charleston how strong the culture of peace is in our community.

Before we get into the details of the party, here's some background on the Charleston Peace One Day organization:

Charleston Peace One Day is devoted to creating more peaceful communities through educational programs and community activities that teach children and adults how to use non-violent conflict resolution tactics in order to solve conflicts in their everyday life. We believe in changing the paradigm from a society of violence to one of peace.

The 3rd Annual Charleston Peace One Day Festival is set for September 19th, from 12 to 7 p.m. at North Charleston's Riverfront Park. Bring your friends, family, dogs, frisbees, blankets; it's gonna be a great day. The main focus of the festival is to create awareness during the International Day of Peace and Ceasefire and highlight peace-building initiatives that are going on throughout the year in South Carolina

Tickets to the festival are just $5 for adults, $3 for students and kids get in free.

Ok, so now, back to the party.

Mellow Mushroom will donate 15% of the total sales to the Charleston Peace One Day organization at the kickoff party on the 1st. Charleston Peace One Day will be selling advanced tickets to the 2010 Charleston Peace One Day Festival, Festival Merchandise including limited addition t-shirts and signed silk screen posters by designer Jay Fletcher.

Fine Art will also be on Display on pieces of art designed to support peace in our community by local artist Karen Sylvestro, Renee Kahn, Jeff Fitzharris, Tina Christophillis, Mikayla Mackaness, and Jay Fletcher. As for music, Nick Denitto from Electric Friends will also be on deck spinning lounge music.
