Update December 19th: Success! With over $3,000 dollars raised for local kids and lots of great art in happy homes, this year's Presents From Punks was a celebration through and through.

According to local artist and event organizer BadJon's Facebook Page, $2,750 was spent on toys for local in-need children, and the rest of the moolah went to buy food for the Lowcountry Food Bank.

We definitely had a blast.  Despite the door busting turnout we were able to snag a few photos of the party, and some great deals on art by our local favorites. 'Till next year........

First reporting December 2nd: We've just received the official press release on the upcoming Presents From Punks art show.

If you're unfamiliar with the event, it is essentially the one-stop shopping/charity event to attend if you're looking to snatch up some great local art for dirt cheap.

I'll quit stalling, here are the details:

Local underground artists SHT! and BadJon are teaming up with Mellow Mushroom to host "Presents From Punks 3", an art show/ toy drive on Saturday Dec. 18, 2010 at 8 p.m.

"Presents from Punks 3" will be unlike any other art show held at Mellow Mushroom because all participating artists have agreed to drastically lower their prices ($50 or less), and donate 100% of their proceeds in order to buy presents for local children who might not be able to have a Christmas. According to BadJon "we want the guests to walk away with amazing art that they can give as a present, but also know that their money will also go to making a disadvantaged child's Christmas brighter."

Last year they raised over $3,800 and bought over 20 shopping carts worth of toys for local children.

At 10:30 p.m., following the art show, Shaniqua Brown and Rocky Horror have volunteered to perform for the event. Shaniqua Brown will play from 10:30 to 11:30p.m. Rocky Horror will spin house music from 11:30 p.m. until 2a.m. All art work will be on display from 8 until 10p.m. After 10 p.m. guests who have purchased art may take their art home.
