Original story:

Are you ready to take your love for gardening to the next level?

If so, lucky for you: There is a FREE Vegetable Gardening Workshop on Saturday, April 25th, with Bobby Wilson, Coordinator of the Atlanta Urban Gardening Program and President of the American Community Gardening Association

The training will be in two parts with a lecture from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m  and a hands-on demonstration from 2 to 4 p.m. Topics include: training new leaders, empowering the community, building self esteem, being outside with good exercise and an environmental educational experience.

Part one will be stationed at Karpeles Manuscript Museum (68 Spring Street) and features a PowerPoint presentation sharing successful community garden programs around the country, community organizing, and developing techniques that have been successful (they suggest bringing your lunch).

Part two will be at Elliotbourgh Park (134 Line Street) and walks through a hands-on explanation of how to plant your own garden and then provides seeds for participants to take home (bring baggies). Discounted seedlings from Thornhill farms will also be available for purchase.

Sign up for morning, afternoon or both sessions by e-mailing lowcountrygardens@gmail.com or calling (843) 553-4829.
