The Olde Village Talking Picture House is playing Alfred Hitchcock's classic "North by Northwest" today, March 7th, at 4 and 7 p.m.

Tickets are $2 for members and $5 for non-members with free popcorn offered. The theater open 15 minutes before the show and seating is limited to 50.

If you're somehow unfamiliar with the classic film, here a brief description of it from an e-mailed press release:

This is the 50th anniversary of the release of North by Northwest which is equal parts sly identity crisis, suspenseful cross-continental chase, and cool romance. It is one of Alfred Hitchcock's most famous movies and chock-full of phallic references, conspiracy paranoia, and Freudian subtext. The crop-dusting sequence is one of the most well-known in film history. It was nominated for three Academy Awards for film editing, art direction, and original screenplay and, in 1995, it was selected for preservation in the United States Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” North by Northwest was acknowledged as the seventh best film in the mystery genre by the American Film Institute.

The Olde Village Talking Picture House is located at 1080 East Montague in Park Circle.

The theater is a project of the not-for-profit Greater Park Circle Film Society and shows films every other Saturday. Next up is "Man Named Pearl" on March 21.
