For the social good: Charleston Twestival details are under way

Save the date for Charleston's first ever Twestival on March 25, 2010. Charleston Twestival is getting you offline and in person with others in the Lowcountry. Twestival is the essence of philanthropy while using social media to accomplish social good.

Here's some background on how Twestival came to be:

On Thursday 25th March 2010, people in hundreds of cities around the world will come together offline to rally around the important cause of Education by hosting local events to have fun and create awareness.  Twestival™ (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good.  All of the local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.

Businesses are embracing this event already. This will make a great kick-off to the Charleston Bridge Run weekend. If you would like to get involved, you can sign up here. An announcement about the venue will be made on Monday, we'll be sure to keep you updated as details become available.

Update February 19: Rebekah Jacob at the Rebekah Jacob Gallery will host the March 25th event.

The gallery is at 169 King Street in downtown Charleston.
