Some of Charleston's most popular yoga instructors will be at Marion Square on Saturday, October 11, from noon to 2 p.m. for the 5th Annual yoga-thon to raise money for Louie's Kids, a local nonprofit that raises money "to help treat childhood obesity."

Here's a bit about if from their Web site:
Participants in the yoga-thon will complete up to 108 “Sun Salutations or up to 108 minutes of yoga, with sponsors donating money for each Sun Salutation or minute of yoga completed.

“We’re extremely grateful to the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Department for embracing our idea of possibly 200 people practicing a peaceful yoga practice right in the center of Marion Square on a Saturday during the farmer’s market,” said Louis Yuhasz, founder of Louie’s Kids. “You can’t pick up a newspaper these days without hearing about the epidemic of childhood obesity. And we’re excited that all of the studios will participate in an effort to help kids who need to make a dramatic change in their lifestyle to avoid a lifetime of health problems.”

The person who collects the most contributions will get 2 round trip tickets from AirTran.

200 people doing yoga as the farmers market swirls around them: should be quite the impressive sight.

Some showers are forecast, so hopefully the weather won't ruin the event.
