Update January 17: Charleston's Social Media Club went quiet for quite some time, but now they're back and inviting you to join them for the re-launch at an informal meet 'n greet.

Locals interested in social media are invited out to the Liberty Tap Room this Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. All are welcome to attend -- from business owners and professionals to social media ninjas and newbies. This meet up is for anyone interested in using social media personally and professionally.

There will be plenty of delicious beer and food as well.

For more information on Wednesday's meet 'n greet, check out the official Facebook invitation.

First reporting: If you're baffled by Twitter, Facebook, del.icio.us, and all those other crazy-named new-fandangled Web services, well fret not as the Social Media Club of Charleston aims to help you understand, or make the most of the tools if you already in the know.

The group is meeting again Wednesday, August 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Here's a bit about their plans for the meeting, from the Facebook event page:

How can I use social media to find a job? Twitter seems silly, am I missing the point? What is social bookmarking? How can I monitor what's being said about my company on social networks, review sites and forums?

We probably won't resolve every question about social media in two short hours, but based on the feedback received from the group it appears that a session focused on social media tips and tools is in order. So...come ready with your questions and any advice you want to share with the rest of the group and we'll have an engaging discussion.

The meeting is at the College of Charleston's Wachovia Auditorium at 5 Liberty Street (on the 1st floor of the Beatty Center.)
