2nd Annual Avondale 5K Run to benefit the Charles Webb Center

The Triangle Char and Bar is hosting the 2nd Annual Avondale 5K Run on Saturday, October 22.

The race is West Ashley's only 5K and benefits the Charles Webb Center that serves children from age 6 weeks to 10 years old who have developmental disabilities and special needs.

Mayor Joe Riley will be on-hand to kick off the race which begins at 8:30 a.m.

The run will start on Magnolia Road in front of Triangle Char and Bar at 828 Savannah Highway and participants will make their way through the streets of the Avondale neighborhood (map.)

There will be an after race party starts as soon as participants cross the finish line and goes until 11 a.m. Triangle Char and Bar is hosting the party complete with live music, all inclusive food and drinks.

For more information visit the run's website or register on Active.com ($30, includes T-shirt, race and entry to after party. Non-race participants can attend party for $20.)

The Avondale 5K is a "green" event — the top winners in all categories will take home a unique recycled glass trophy donated by Chris Fisher of Fisher Recycling. All attendees and participants are asked to recycle and re-use wherever possible using the provided bins.

Some suggestions are to bring re-fillable water bottles to cut down on waste and ride your bike, carpool, walk, run or take CARTA to the events. Extra bike racks will be provided. If you do drive, please park in designated parking spaces and not on the race course.
