Hold onto your hats: It's the 4-D weekend round-up

Welcome back once again to another edition of TheDigitel's weekend round-up featuring the best of what Charleston has to offer. It isn't really in 4-D, but you'll get what I'm talking about later.

Of course, the Spoleto Festival, Piccolo Spoleto, and Piccolo Fringe are all still going strong. It's hard to miss, but if you had, or want a refresher course on what there is to do and see during the festivals, check this out. Want to see all things Spoleto? Easy. Just head over to our Spoleto landing page for video, interviews, reviews and much more.

Now, let's take a look at what's happening this weekend in the wonderful world of Lowcountry sports. The Charleston Battery has a chance to avenge its only defeat of the season this Friday night when they host the Harrisburg City Islanders at 7:30 p.m.  If you're less into soccer and more into America's favorite pastime, the RiverDogs are holding it down at The Joe with an eight-game homestand that runs through June 8th.

There's big news down at the South Carolina Aquarium. This Saturday marks the grand opening of the 4-D Immersion Theater. This one-of-a-kind experience combines 3-D imagery, interactive seating and waves of special effects such as gusts of wind, splashes of water and movement under your feet, all synchronized to your favorite family films.

If you're looking for a more hands-on activity, roll up your sleeves and head out to the corner of Rutledge and Bogard to lend a hand at the Bogarden. The brains behind downtown's newest garden are looking for volunteers to help out with weeding, sign painting, brick laying, and in return will teach you a bit about good old fashioned gardening.

I could keep going on about what's coming up this weekend, or you can just make it easier on yourself and take a look at our complete Events Calendar. The Charleston City Paper has a weekend round-up out as well that is also worth checking out.
