Update March 26, 2012: With 40 vendors and hundreds of event goers, the first Surf and Skate Expo was a big success.

First Report March 23, 2012: The Atlantic Surfing Federation (ASF) and the Grand Strand Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation invite you to the first annual Surf/Skate Expo & Fish Taco Cook-off this Sunday, March 25, 2012, from 1-7 p.m. between Creek Ratz and Dockside’Daves/Bubba’s Love Shak on the Marsh Walk in Murrels Inlet.
The Fish Taco Cook-off starts at 1 p.m., featuring fresh, tasty recipes from over a dozen local restaurants, non-profit organizations, and community groups. Tickets will be sold for tacos, other food/beverages, and specialty beers from local favorites New South Brewery.
The event features a live hula dancing show and reggae music all day from “Below the Bassline,” “Downtribe,” “Skitch,” “Treehouse,” and “The Strike O Matics.”
Professional skaters will demonstrate their skills on a half-pipe ramp and other obstacles throughout the day, and local surfers will demo paddle boarding in the Inlet.
Area surf/skate shops will demonstrate how to build their boards and present examples of new designs. There will be tons of great deals on boards and related equipment as well as a variety of surfing and nautical artwork and photography from local artists.
Entry is free and open to the public, so if you are into good music, good food, and good fun come to the Marsh Walk Sunday and enjoy the festivities.
All proceeds benefit the Atlantic Surfing Federation, a non-profit organization committed to promoting and implementing a modern, progressive surfing program for all members and ability levels. The ASF seeks to instill discipline, environmental awareness, positive values of fair play, and good sportsmanship in all its members, while encouraging and guiding their development in the area of competitive surfing.
