Taste of the Market Common (Update: Today and alternate routes due to construction)

Update 6/2/12:  The event is this afternoon, but if you're planning to go, be aware of a new traffic pattern in that area that could cause some confusion.

Backgate construction reached a milestone this morning and southbound traffic is being re-routed.  For today only, neither direction can make a left onto Farrow Parkway or 707.  If you're approaching Farrow Parkway from the north, you'll have to proceed down to the Palmetto Pointe light and take Frontage Road back to Farrow.  Another option is to approach from Business 17.  This is a good opportunity to check out the new road running from George Bishop Parkway, beside the airport, and through to Business 17.

First report:  A new food event is coming to the Myrtle Beach area. The Taste of Market Common will be on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 3 to 7 p.m.

This newest culinary event to the area will feature food from, "Devo Olive Oil, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, King Street Grille, Nacho Hippo, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Piggly Wiggly, Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar, and Travinia Italian Kitchen." This event is also for a great cause, your $5 admission will be donated to Lowcountry Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens.

Additionally, there will be live bluegrass music, outdoor furniture display, and decorating tips from Pottery Barn, and of course beer and wine will be available.
