Update 5/8: Andre Pope of TheDigitel was able to check out the opening day of the Conway's Farmers Market. It is slightly different than the others around Horry County. Check out his photo set for a first hand view.

The Conway Journal also has a nice little write-up about how well the downtown merchants did on opening day. Read it here.

First report: Spring has sprung and so has many of the residents of Horry County in hopes to bring home local fruits, vegetables, eggs and dairy.  The Conway Farmers Market looks to open its "barn doors" at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday May 7 and is planned to continue through October at the 217 Laurel Street location in downtown Conway.

The Conway Farmers Market is currently accepting vendor applications as well as looking for a few volunteers for this year market.

We want this market to be better than ever, so if you’d like to pass along suggestions for improvement, we’d be happy to entertain them. We are particularly interested in any activities that may be desired. Music, cooking demonstrations, BBQ, contest, special events?.... let us know what you like best about our hometown market and we’ll do what we can to address your suggestions.

New to this year's market, Conway is accepting SNAP, WIC and EBT. They are also working with The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), which provides low-income seniors with voucher/coupons that can be exchanged for fresh produce at farmers' markets, and community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs.
