Harvest Fare brings tasty eats and cooking demonstrations

The Harvest Fare is coming to the Charleston Farmers Market on Saturday, November 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. bringing lots of tasty food and cooking demonstrations to the market's usual bounty of prepared food, fun, and merchandise.

Here' s the event's schedule from an e-mailed press release:
9 a.m. -- Putting Up: Farmers Market vendor and author of Putting Up Steve Dowdney of Rockland Plantation will demonstrate canning tricks and tips for preserving the fall harvest for the holidays.

10 a.m. -- From Farm to Plate: Sean Brock, Executive Chef at McCrady’s Restaurant and Wadmalaw Island farmer, will team-up with Farmers Market vendor and organic farmer Rita Bachmann of Rita’s Roots.

11 a.m. -- Organic Table: Alluette Jones-Smalls, owner of Alluette’s Café and Helen and Joseph Fields, Johns Island farmers, will prepare a traditional southern dish.

Noon -- From Sea to Plate: Tressy Magwood Mellichamp, a Farmers Market vendor, and Lily Herndon Weaks, co-authors of East Cooper: A Maritime Heritage, will prepare a shrimp dish with their catch-of-the-day.

It's at Marion Square in downtown Charleston.
