Keep Charleston Beautiful hosting Governor's Park cleanup

The City of Charleston’s Keep Charleston Beautiful is looking for volunteers for a cleanup event on February 23, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Governor's Park.

The purpose of the event is to remove litter from the wooded trails in Governors Park on Daniels Island. This event is open to the public, and volunteers are welcome for any period of time. Cleanup efforts will focus on the wooded and marsh areas along the park’s walking trails and the small ponds near the parking lots.

Those who volunteer will help keep the park’s natural areas clean and safe for wildlife while helping to maintain the beauty of this wonderful area.

Volunteers should meet near the concessions building. Cleanup supplies, including trash bags and pickup sticks, will be provided. All ages are welcome. Youth volunteers (younger than 16 years old) must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear pants and close toed shoes.

Support for this event comes from the Daniel Island Community Fund, Palmetto Pride, and the City of Charleston.
