Update November 14, 2011: The Council Chambers at the Ted C. Collins Law Enforcement Center swelled beyond capacity this evening to hear Billy's tales.

The attendance was a veritable who's who of old-time Myrtle Beach. There was not a empty seat in the house as long-time friends shook hands and hugged with each other. Eventually, extra chairs were carried in but there were still many people standing. It made it difficult for an amateur photographer like myself to get good shots in the challenging light. First Report: The City of Myrtle Beach will host "An Evening with Billy Roberts" on Monday, November 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers in the Ted C. Collins Law Enforcement Center.

Billy Roberts, a lifelong Myrtle Beach local now in his 80's, worked for the Myrtle Beach Police Department as the fingerprint and crime scene photographer. Robert's remained an avid photographer beyond his career at the police department and has preserved Myrtle Beach history in his photos that he will display while sharing his stories. The presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. and is free to the public.
