PAR and Charleston Krav Maga to host self-defense class in light of recent attack

You may not have heard, but on Monday, May 23rd, a woman was attacked outside of a West Ashley medical office...in broad daylight.

A man slipped into the woman's car as she was preparing to make a phone call and demanded that she drive away, to a vacant house down the road, where he then raped her.

In light of this incident, the local organization People Against Rape (PAR) is partnering up with Charleston Krav Maga to offer a free self-defense seminar to local women (ages 16 and older) on Saturday, June 4th. Donations will be accepted on behalf of PAR if you'd like to help the cause; however, they are by no means required or mandatory to participate in the class. The seminar will take place between 1 and 2:30 p.m. at Charleston Krav Maga (1250 Wappoo Road).

If you'd like more information about the seminar or other self-defense classes in the area, email Katie@CharlestonKravMaga.com, call (843) 225-5425, or visit www.CharlestonKravMaga.com or PAR's website.

The Post and Courier has a full report about the West Ashley rape that occured Monday; read it here. Also, Live5News.com recently sat down with PAR and Charleston Krav Maga to discuss self-defense techniques; watch the video and read the full report here.
