Gubernatorial candidates are in town for final debates (updated with video)

Democrats Vincent Sheheen, Jim Rex and Robert Ford faced off in a nearly 30-minute candidates forum Tuesday evening in West Ashley where topics of discussion ranged from job creations, education, abortion to pay cuts.

With only a week until the primaries, all seven gubernatorial candidates are heading to Charleston for a final debate.

The three Democratic candidates, Robert Ford, Vincent Sheheen and Jim Rex will debate at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and the four Republicans, Gresham Barrett, Andre Bauer, Nikki Haley and Henry McMaster are scheduled to debate at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Both debates will be broadcast by WCSC-TV (Live News 5), which also is hosting the debates in its West Ashley studio. Anchor Bill Sharpe will moderate.
