The United States Basketball Association (USBA), North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department and North Strand Helping Hand (NSHH) are partnering to distribute gently used sneakers and shoes.

The program was initiated by the USBA to give back to the North Myrtle Beach community for their warm hospitality extended during the three-week long event. North Strand Helping Hand, a United Way of Horry County agency, will oversee the distribution of the shoes to members of the community who are in need.

“This is perfect timing as families prepare for back-to-school and fall sports,”

-Margaret Owens, executive director of NSHH.

The shoes will be distributed at the little gym at North Myrtle Beach High School on Wednesday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 10 a.m. until noon.  Individuals and families in need of gently used shoes must reside in Longs, Loris, Little River, and North Myrtle Beach and must bring picture ID, proof of residency and social security cards for members of the household in order to receive shoes.

NSHH is a United Way agency and is funded by ten North Strand area churches.  For more information about NSHH or this event, please call 843-399-0862.
