Update 10/23: Nearly 3,000 runners completed the 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Mini-Marathon this morning, Sunday October 23rd.

For a great write-up head on over to WMBF News and for all the winners by age group and overall hop on over to The Sun News. Over at SCnow.com they have a scoop on the story of two men who both waited for their lucky ladies to cross the finishline and dropped to one knee to pop the big question.

We would like to say congratulations to all the runners and a thanks to all the volunteers for making the 2nd Myrtle Beach Mini-Marathon a success.

First Report 10/15:  The 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Mini-Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 23rd, beginning at 7:00 a.m.  Five thousand runners are expected to participate.

Their site is packed with race information for the mini-marathon, Coastal 5K, Doggie Dash, and High Heel Run.  The Doggie Dash and High Heel Run benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society.

There is an app for runners that has details about the race route, GPS locations, times, area restaurants and hotels, and will post your progress to Facebook.  It's available in the Android Market.  According to their web page, it is also available in the Apple App Store. The app was developed by a local Myrtle Beach tech company called XL Run.

You can connect with race organizers and other runners on their Facebook page.

Here is a video from last year's event.
