World-Renowned Reggae Group, The Wailers, to Perform at The Windjammer

International
reggae act, The Wailers, will be
performing at The Windjammer on Isle
of Palms on Thursday, August 15. Tickets are $20 in advance and can be
purchased at The Windjammer on online at www.the-windjammer.com. Tickets sold
at the door will be $25. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show will start
around 9:30

Most
widely known for their partnership with reggae-icon Bob Marley, The Wailers originally
formed in 1969 and have toured extensively throughout the world with various
performers since then – ultimately performing for over 24 million people. Aston
“Family Man” Barrett pioneered the band and is now the main member still
touring. His authentic Jamaican roots, everlasting energy, and dedicated talent
result in ‘Family Man’ being widely deemed as one of the world’s greatest bass
players.

In
addition to their extensive tours, The Wailers launched and continue to push
the global music industry initiative, “I WENT HUNGRY”, to combat hunger that
needlessly exists throughout the world. They encourage fellow musicians and the
public alike to give up a meal and donate the proceeds to this initiative,
which in turn gives 100% of the donations to the WFP (World Food Program) that
is currently combating a hunger crisis in Ethiopia.

The Windjammer is
one of Charleston’s
only oceanfront bars/restaurants and has been a local favorite since 1972. It
is one of the area’s premier concert venues and allows fans to get up close and
personal with their favorite local, regional and national musical artists. The
Windjammer provides a great atmosphere, good food and fun times for locals and
tourists alike. For more information visit, www.the-windjammer.com or e-mail windjammer@comcast.net.
