Upstanding Folly Beach resident Carol Linville has been named as 2009's Folly Beach Citizen of the Year.

As a 34 year resident, Linville has established the Folly Beach Animal Control Kennel, helped put into place ordinances to protect the city’s animals, and founded Pet Helpers adoption center.
