Widespread Panic, the jam band with a southern tinge, are headed to the Coliseum this Friday and Saturday and Charleston City Paper had the chance to chat with bassist Dave Schools before the gigs.

Schools talks a lot about the band's new sound, the importance of a little time off the road, and the greatness of giving back to the community through canned food drives and charity gigs.

If you're headed out to either show this weekend and haven't heard, fans are encouraged to bring canned good donations that will go directly to the Lowcountry Food Bank.

Go read the piece over at the Charleston City Paper.
