Update December 3:

The Charleston Beer Exchange has confirmed all initial indications with this post on their blog:

We are thrilled to announce that COAST's latest release is now flowing on the growler station! This brand new beer is a smoked porter which they call aptly: Porter, Smoked. At 5.8% ABV, this American-style porter uses 40% cherry wood smoked malt to give a rich and luxurious dimension of smoky aroma and flavor. Perfect for the cool evenings!

First reporting:

Coast Brewing's newest seasonal creation, a smoked porter, is available at Charleston Beer Exchange as of this morning.

Not much more info than that for now.  If the beeradvocate entry is correct, it's called "Porter, Smoked," and weighs in at 5.8% ABV.  Hopefully there will be more to report soon.

In general, the style is made with roasted barley, imparting a smoky flavor to the usually extremely dark (bordering on black) brew.  It's a fairly young play on its much more smoke-centric German ancestor, Rauchbier.

Charleston Beer Exchange can be found downtown at 14 Exchange Street.
