Original Reporting May 18th 2010: Whether you want a vegetarian wrap, roast beef sandwich, pizza, hotdog, or fish tacos, Dell'z Deli is the place to go. With reasonable prices any college student on a budget can afford, getting a great (and healthy!) sandwich for a steal is worth the visit.

Not only is the food worth your while, but meeting the owner and chef is what really makes your visit. The charismatic owner Dell Grayson offers a warm greeting every time the door opens, and when you walk in, you can't help but smile. Although it’s a small deli, Dell’s big love fills the room with bright yellow walls, colorful painting, and an upbeat reggae tune playing in the background.

The Hummer sandwich, $6.50.

Unsurprisingly, Dell's love for food and healthy eating can be tasted in every delicious bite. Specializing in vegetarian and vegan dishes, Dellz also has an assortment of Boars Head turkey, roast beef, and other carnivore-friendly choices.  Dell also keeps up with the late-night crowd, serving till 3 a.m. on the weekends.

"I just want to give people good food that's good for them," explains Dell.

"The Hummer" wrap is a favorite of mine. It boasts homemade black bean hummus, goddess dressing, fresh sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, and tons of other fresh veggies. Served with organic tortilla chips and a piece of fresh fruit, it's healthiest and tastiest $6.50 you'll ever spend in Charleston.

Dell'z also serves up fresh pizzas heaping with veggies and a tasty vegetarian BLT. Local blogger "Amber" from A Space Apart gave a rave review to Dell's "Beach Bum" wrap with shrimp.

Whether you’re a college student, a lawyer, a firefighter, or a construction worker Dell opens her doors to anyone who wants a flavorful bite of fresh food. Dellz is also known to do a bang-up catering job, including all-vegan menus.  The family operated deli is a must visit for any local or tourist who happen to be in the area. And with prices ranging from $5 to $9 for overflowing portion sizes, your stomach will be as full as Dellz heart.

Dell'z Deli is open Monday thru Thursday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Dell'z is also open Thursday thru Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.  Dell'z is located at 1-A Cannon St. (allllmost the corner of King and Cannon streets)  For to-go orders, call Dell at (843) 722-5376.
