A touch of an old Southern market in Heirloom Eats at Towne Centre

I went to the Palmetto Pig a few times, but I had a hard time getting used to the idea of solid Lowcountry BBQ in a new building on the edge of Towne Centre in Mount Pleasant.

But now the spot has converted into Heirloom Eats and is trying to again capitalize on some down home Southern vibes and battle back the feeling of new drywall — but with a more earnest attempt to make the restaurant feel like a pocket of true way-back-when.

It sounds like the spot has a few kinks to work out, but has some value to offer, particularly if it's a pain for you to journey all the way in town — or just want to duck out of a shopping frenzy by the family.

Read more about them over at the Charleston City Paper's profile, see photos of the dishes at Table With a View, or check out their menu on their website.

The spot has also garnered similar mixed reviews on Yelp.
