An Educational Nesting Experience Now Offered at the Center For Birds of Prey

See the world through a raptor’s perspective as the Center for Birds of Prey opens its facilities to young campers for Overnight Group Educational Programs on Eagle Island twice monthly.

Open to chaperoned groups of at least 30 to 100 (schools, churches, Boy and Girl Scouts, YMCA, etc.), the Overnight Group Education Program will offer a bird’s eye view of the Center’s grounds and various bird species.  Beginning in February, the program will be offered to campers ages six to 17 on the 2nd and 4th weekends of each month.

The Center will provide two hours of curriculum each day, a designated camping area with a fire pit and picnic table and all-day access to the grounds.  The curriculum features an introduction to birds of prey species (native and non-native to South Carolina), observation and natural history discussion regarding conservation challenges and habitat needs and an opportunity to experience live raptors up-close during awe-inspiring flight demonstrations.

Reservations require a minimum of 30 attendees and must be booked by a group leader/chaperone.  Rates are $20 per attendee for one night or $30 per attendee for two nights.  To make reservations, contact the Center for Birds of Prey at 843-971-7474.
