Jazz Artists of Charleston announces 6th annual JAC Jazz Series

CHARLESTON, SC – March 12, 2013 – Jazz Artists of Charleston is thrilled to announce the lineup for the 6th Annual JAC Jazz Series, May 23 – June 7, 2013! Coinciding with the Spoleto Festival season, JAC will showcase Charleston’s premiere jazz musicians, along with regionally, nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. In its sixth year, the series will call Upstairs at 493 King Street home for its second year in a row. The venue is also known also as Father Figaro Hall, located at 493 King Street, Suite 200, Downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Tickets are on sale now.

There will be two sets, 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Each set is approximately 75 minutes in duration and doors open 30 minutes prior to each set. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the show. Seating is first come, first serve. Tickets $20 in advance, $25 day-of show. Reserved seating available with ticket contribution packages. All major credit cards, cash, and checks will be accepted. Jazz Artists of Charleston (JAC), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote musical awareness and education, including the recognition and preservation of the history of jazz, in the City of Charleston through performances, special events and educational outreach. The orchestra is an entertaining, educational and a stellar exemplar of the rich history and legacy of jazz in Charleston. Given Charleston’s place in the history of jazz, America’s most original art form and its most significant cultural export over the last 100 years, the Charleston Jazz Orchestra represents the continuation of a musical tradition begun about a century and a half ago in coastal South Carolina.
