(Updates at the bottom.)

Remember how Austin-based contractor Austin Commercial LP was selected to execute a planned $150 million revamp of the Charleston International Airport?

An Atlanta firm with Charleston partners has filed a protest for re-award, saying that rules were broken and the award process was flawed.

A board member has close ties to the Austin firm, a situation that was not publicly disclosed earlier, and the Atlanta firm alleges gave the Austin firm unfair insider knowledge.

Head on over to The Post and Courier to read about the situation.

Update May 1: The $150 million contract still has yet to be signed by the Charleston County Aviation Authority, but the authority is expected to sign soon — at which point a protest over a conflict of interest by the now-resigned board member Joey Jefferson is expect to be refiled.

I'll point you to The Post and Courier for the turn-of-the-wheel update.
