Area Development magazine has recognized South Carolina with its 2011 Gold Shovel Award as well as its Project of the Year award.

Our state received the Gold Shovel due to its economic development efforts during 2010, and the Project of the Year award was for Anderson County's First Quality Tissue project.

Some of the projects that aided the magazine's decision to honor South Carolina with the Gold Shovel include: Dorchester County's Robert Bosch and Charleston County's Boeing Fabrication Interiors, among others across the state.

For more information regarding the awards, visit the magazine online.

Charleston Regional Business Journal has a great write-up regarding these honors; read it here.
