City: Drink on the street and it'll be $200

The city of Charleston is stepping up enforcement of laws prohibiting open containers and public drunkenness. In the past, a walk down King or Broad streets would reveal many people drinking in small groups, but this year businesses have been warned to stop letting patrons take drinks outside.

So far the city has made good on its promise at least once, giving out several $200-plus tickets during the Upper King Street Design Walk.

Be sure to leave a comment or e-mail us if you've seen much ticketing going on.
