Camper in Francis Marion Forest uncovers unmarked hidden camera

A group camping out in the Francis Marion National Forest turned up a very suspicious case involving hidden cameras in an isolated clearing in the woods.

After a bit of research, it turns out that the recovered unmarked camera belongs to the U.S. Forest Service which had set it up in order to monitor "illicit activities."

Sketchy indeed. So was the camera monitoring all campers? What was it doing in a relatively remote camping area? Are there other hidden camera throughout the forest? What happens with the footage the hidden camera captures?

According to The Post and Courier's article:

Officials with the Forest Service were hardly forthcoming with answers to these and other questions about their surveillance cameras. When contacted about the incident, Heitzman [of the U.S. Forest Service] said "no comment" and referred other questions to Forest Service's public affairs, who he said, "won't know anything about it."

Very sketchy indeed.

Hop over to The Post and Courier for more on the mysterious case.
