Louis Hoppmann III, 32, has been accused of animal cruelty following an incident on Saturday at Folly Beach.

Several onlookers said Hoppmann swung a baseball bat into a seagull in mid-flight, an act the led to the death of the bird. However, Hoppmann says he only swung the bat to clear the birds from his and his companion's food and beach items.

I'll shoot you over to The Post and Courier for the report on the he-said she-said; take a read here.
