Charleston escalates enforcement of bicycle rules (update: video)

Image by Tom Bradford/Charleston Moves Two young women were stopped on King Street at about 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 26. The woman closest to the camera said she had just moved to Charleston from Ohio.

Update August 26, evening: Live 5 News has done a follow up report and video with a little extra depth; get it here.

First reporting August 26: In case you didn't know you're not allowed to ride your bike against the flow of traffic or on sidewalks where the speed limit on the road is below 35 MPH. In years past those rules have been loosely enforced but you're more likely to find a cop issuing citations these days.

As evidence of that I'll point you to this blog post of photos over at Charleston Moves.

Stay safe, bike the right way.
