Update March 21: NBC News 2 has an update with information about the child, Devonte Bonaparte, and the community's reaction. It seems like the community wants some sort of effort to reduce speed (even if it's just a "kids at play" sign,) but so far it doesn't sound like the city's planning to; watch their video here.

Live 5 News has a similar report.

First reporting: While playing, a 7-year-old boy apparently ran into the road where he was then struck by a car. What's doubly unusual is that the driver may have been speeding up to avoid hitting the kid.

ABC News 4 seems to have the most in-depth report. Read it here, or watch the video report.
