Hate crimes on the rise in South Carolina

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has determined that the number of hate crimes in South Carolina increased from 127 in 2007 to 153 in 2008.

According to South Carolina law enforcement, the majority of hate crimes in South Carolina were motivated by race, religion and sexual orientation.
