Man dies a week after beating

Corey Logan, 38, died Sunday night, about a week after being beaten up at Lana Market on Upper King. Logan apparently was intervening in a fight, and police are still looking for suspects.

From The Post and Courier:

Corey Logan had been in critical condition at Roper Hospital after the June 28 incident at Lana Market on 949 King St. He died from a subdural hematoma, or a combination of swelling and bleeding around the brain, about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Bobbi Jo O'Neal said.

From NBC News 2:

Now, Logan's family members are struggling with his death and their unanswered questions. Logan's grandmother, Ethel Simmons said, "I don't know what happened on the street when he jumped in. I don't know why he jumped in. From my understanding, he was going in to stop the fight. Whey they turn on him, I don't know."

Simmons says she last saw Logan Friday night. She said he said he'd be back before he walked out the door. Simmons said, "He didn't come back. That's what hurt me. I was looking for him to come back. Never thought this would happen to him, you know?"

Three men are thought to have been behind the attack. One of them has been identified as William "Dontrell" Myers, 28, who is about 5'9" and 150 lbs. Myers reportedly has a gold tooth and "Will" tattooed on his right forearm.
