Man suspected of kidnapping, raping James Island girl turns himself in (bond set at $1.8M)

Update March 10: With a criminal arrest record nearly six pages long, a judge has set a $1.8 million bond on Corey Bernard Hymes.

News 4 Charleston has the update along with more on Hymes' violent past.

First reporting: Corey Bernard Hymes, 41, turned himself in to the police yesterday after being accused of kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old James Island girl.

After being asked to give a 17-year-old girl a ride from West Ashley to the downtown area in the early morning of February 27th, Hymes instead brought her to Hazzard Lane on James Island, where he sexually assaulted her.

Hymes, also known as Troy Antonio Brown, was wanted for one count of kidnapping and two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
