Many questions as 5-year-old, father shot at West Ashley home (Updated)

Update November 6: If you're curious how events unfolded on the Griffor family the night of October 25, or how the family has been left reeling following the death of 5-year-old Allison Griffor, The Post and Courier has a report you should read.

It's the most detailed account I've seen of the tragedy yet (read it here) and includes an info-graphic of the layout of the house and how the gun was fired (see that here).

There's also talk of how this home invasion could provide motivation for a proposed bill that would make home invasions or drive by shootings that lead to the death of a resident offenses that could qualify for the death penalty.

Update November 4: A $1,000 reward is being offered for information.

I can't speak much to the motivation effect of such rewards, but given the tragedy, if that doesn't compel someone, I can image what motivation $1,000 would provide.

Update November 2: It seems there are still no hard connections on the men responsible in the home invasion that lead to the death of Allison Griffor, but police are encountering a high density of crime nearby.

1) Just a few days before that home invasion, on October 22, five men allegedly did a home invasion just a few blocks southeast.

2) On October 25, the same day of the invasion of Griffor's home, another house a few blocks to the southeast was robbed and drugs were found.

3) And now three men have been arrested in connection with an October 31 robbery of a nearby bar, the Pierpont Pub.

The string of incidents has residents understandably concerned and police are still looking into if or how these three incidents might be connected to the Griffor invasion.

Update October 30: Sad news has come that Allison Griffor has died.

Update October 28: Still many questions in this, but The Post and Courier has a report that will add much context.

Like, the fluke of chance that lead to 5-year-old Allison Griffor being shot as she slept in her room — far from the front door the men broke down.

It's well worth a read, do so here.

Update October 27: The Post and Courier has a footnote report about how the home has an unfortunate history of seeing gunfire and blood before.

First reporting: An attempted home invasion in West Ahsley wound up with both a father and his 5-year-old daughter wounded by gunfire.

Investigators are looking for suspects that allegedly kicked through the door around 1 a.m. and opened fire.

The mother and two other children were in the home at the time but not wounded. Right now there are far more questions than answers about why this happened.

Live 5 News has a video report on the sad news; take a read and watch here.

Also of interest, NBC News 2 has a copy of the 911 tapes.
