An apparent murder-suicide has taken place in a peaceful Mount Pleasant neighborhood, shocking the entire Longpoint subdivision.

Officers responded to the 2072 Millbrook Court home at 12:12 a.m. on Wednesday morning and found the bodies of the married couple Bruce Skinner, 59, and Marilyn Skinner, 62. Both had been shot. Police Captain Stan Gragg said it appears the husband shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

Neighbors told officers that they'd never had a problem with the Skinners, nor seen any hint of trouble between the couple. Nobody living near the Skinners' home reported hearing any gunshots.
