Weed growing operation found, closed in North Charleston

A "sophisticated marijuana growing operation" was discovered and shutdown in a Lucille Drive apartment in North Charleston.

A new release stated that the operation included 14 marijuana plants and "a high powered lighting system, an irrigation system, a ventilation system, electric fans, automated timers, hydro and PH chemicals, and heat lamps."

Police said the operation could have grown much larger but the existing plants had an estimated street value of $63,420.

Steven Sean Grgach, 30, was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within half mile of a school.
