N. Myrtle Beach Farmers Market opens on Friday (Update: Pics)

Update May 25th: Today was the re-opening of the newly remodeled North Myrtle Beach Farmer's Market.

The City put a pretty penny into the market, and landscaping was still being done. The threat of afternoon showers didn't deter vendors or shoppers, as the market was pretty busy at 11:30 a.m. Besides the standard fresh, locally or regionally grown fruits and veggies, the North Myrtle Beach Farmer's Market also offered free range chicken and grass fed beef, locally made cheese, organic soaps from a local company and refurbished bags and jewelry made of old tires by Groovy Garbage

Enjoy the pictures above and remember the market is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

First Report May 24th: The North Myrtle Beach Farmers Market opens for the season on Friday, May 25, 2012. The public is invited to enjoy a 10 a.m. opening ceremony.

The North Myrtle Beach Farmers Market, located on 1st Avenue South between the new North Myrtle Beach Library and City Hall, will be open Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Plenty of parking is available in adjoining public parking lots, although City officials do request that market-goers avoid using the North Myrtle Beach Library parking lot.

Two new metal-roofed, open-air shelters and a restroom have been added to the market this year. The structures will enable market vendors to continue to sell their products when it rains, and they will also offer shelter from the summer sun.

The North Myrtle Beach Farmers Market is part of the Waccamaw Market Cooperative, which supports certified South Carolina grown products.

We, at TheDigitel, love farm-fresh produce.  Check out our Farmers Market topic page for the latest on all of the markets in the Grand Strand.
